You reach out and grab the arm of a passing crew member, a harried-looking human man with dark circles under his eyes and grease stains on his jumpsuit. He jerks to a stop, glaring at you. 'What?' he snaps, then seems to register your apprentice badge. His expression softens slightly.

'Engineering?' you ask over the blaring alarms. He nods and points down the corridor. 'Third left, then straight until you hit the reactor core. Can't miss it.' As he pulls away, the ship lurches violently, throwing you both against the wall. The overhead lights flicker dangerously.

You push off and sprint in the direction indicated, dodging crew members rushing to their stations. The third left leads to a narrower service corridor lined with exposed piping. The air grows hotter with each step, thick with the smell of burning metal. Emergency lighting casts long shadows as you approach a massive reinforced door marked 'Engineering - Authorized Personnel Only' in glowing red letters.

Just as you raise your hand to the access panel, another violent shudder rocks the ship. A panel bursts open above you, spraying sparks. You duck as a conduit pipe crashes to the deck just inches away. Through the chaos, you hear shouting from the other side of the engineering door.
