The heat sears through your gloves, but you grit your teeth and lift just enough for them to scramble free.

They roll away, gasping, clutching their injured leg. 'Thanks,' they wheeze, their dark eyes wide with shock. 'I'm Tann - new reactor tech.' Before you can respond, the ship lurches again violently, throwing you both against the wall. The overhead lighting goes completely dark for a terrifying moment before emergency backups kick in, bathing everything in crimson gloom.

Tann grabs your arm as you both struggle to stand. 'We need to get to engineering NOW,' they say urgently. 'That energy signature - it's overloading the core!' Together you stumble toward the massive doors, which now stand slightly ajar. As you push through, an overwhelming wave of heat and noise assaults you. The engineering bay is pure chaos - crew members shout over the deafening hum of the reactor, tools and parts scatter across the floor with each tremor.

A barrel-chested man with a wild gray beard spots you immediately. 'Apprentice!' Chief Oren bellows, his voice cutting through the din. He strides over, his mechanical left arm whirring as he gestures wildly toward the reactor core. 'Get suited up - we've got a containment breach in progress!'
